Today, I was reading the newspaper when I saw a story about an 8 year old girl who has the reading age of a 13 year old. The picture beside the story was a girl wearing glasses, and she was surrounded by all the Harry Potter books. I think we all know where she got her intelligence from. HLIM (her life is magical)

I was reading harry potter at that age too..
I know, the first one came out when I was in kindergarten and I read it then.
I had a reading age of fourteen when I was eight. It's just that everything else was a weakness lol. Hufflepuff to the bone. Harry Potter FTW!
I don't get how that's exciting.... I was reading Harry Potter at age 4...... O_O My childhood would have been dreadful if Harry Potter hadn't been around to make me smart. XD
...when I was 8, I was reading at a 16 year old level. Though I didn't read Harry Potter until I was 10...
When I was in kindergarten I read my first Harry Potter book. When I was seven I could read 16 year old level books. I don't get why she's so great? :)
Same here! When I was eleven I had a college level reading ability, and I never got an article about me! But I'm kind of glad--I'm shy and that would be embarrassing for me.
That sounds like me... But I read higher than that :) I am a ravenclaw I doubt that has everything to do with it
god, why does she get to be in the newspaper, what about the rest of us with super high reading ages, and a weakness for all things Potter? :)
I read it when I was 11 but couldv'e read it at an earlier age if I'd decided to have read it then instead of the other series to see what it was about. Oh the regrets. But I also read the Eragon and Inkheart series which were pretty good.
I had a college reading level at that age... but then, I taught myself how to read in kindergarten. And parents who cared very strongly about proper education. But the Harry Potter books were a big part of it.
Speaking of smart kids ... I know someone who graduated year 12 (in Australia) when he was 14. My year 3/4 composite class got on TV because of him :D
Harry Potter was the very first book I read. My sister read them to me when I was four and then I re-read them myself when I was 5. I am still reading them. I stopped counting after 45! There are so many vocab words in there too! Hey, fun challenge: Count how many times JK Rowling says OMINOUSLY in the books!
As awesome as this is, this little girl isn't that impressive...I had a college reading level at age four.
That's nice, but I've been reading college level since I was five.
