Today I saw a post secret that said "When I was younger, I didn't kill myself because I had to know how Harry Potter ended." Some people may roll their eyes at our Harry Potter references and look at us in disbelief when we re-read them for the 15th time. But Harry Potter isn't just 7 books. It has changed so many lives. Our lives are truly magic, average wizards.

It wasn't me who submitted that secret, but needing to know how Harry Potter ended was one of the reasons I ended up not committing suicide. People can laugh, but "It's real for us." <3

A million "ups" to that! I'm happy Harry Potter gave you a reason to appreciate life. Harry Potter is so much more than just a story.

It saved my life last year. I needed to see the final movies so I could feel content with the end. I watched, listened and memorized the movies, books, AVPS, AVPM, fanfiction. It is what kept me sane until I got medication to cope with what I had. Not many people will understand how grateful I am to it all. :) I will always remember what it did for me!

It was one of the reasons why know I needed to live until next July; to see the last Harry Potter movie. Now, I feel like living just because I want to live. HP got me through it. :)<3

I've pretty much been a loner ever since i was little but Harry Potter was like the friend i didn't have and also helped me make friends later on, because of course HP brings people together. (:

Hmm, I wonder if that's why my bestfriend hasn't committed suicide...but, if that's so then would someone kill themselves finally knowing? o-O

I think that while you wait you get over it... that's what I did..

That wasn't my secret, but it could've been. And to be honest, I still struggle, but the books, and all you people here on AW, have been so helpful. Now I'm getting help, and trying to find more reasons <3

That what my reason when I was 13... I am 18 now, so I guess it worked. I don't know what I will do when I fall into the trap again. I always fall into the trap. =/

It makes me sad that there are so many people on here that have, at some point, wanted to end their lives. I haven't always been happy; I had depression throughout middle school. I never once considered killing myself though. I guess the trick really is exactly this. For many of you, waiting to see how Harry Potter ends kept you holding on. Well, try taking that idea and making it even larger: wait so that you can see how your life turns out. No matter what pain you're going through right now, life has a strange way of being completely unpredictable (something that is shown throughout Harry Potter itself). If you kill yourself now, then you will never be able to grow up, go to college, get a career, etc.
