Well, there's a 30 minute video explaining it all on youtube, if you search Kony 2012. If you don't want to spend that much time, lemme give you the gist of it. Joseph Kony leads the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda (in Africa). He has children kidnapped from their families, girls becoming sex slaves and boys becoming child soldiers. These originally innocent children are forced to do terrible things because of Kony, and it wasn't until recently that the US became involved in trying to track/arrest Kony. Most people don't know who Kony is, so the goal is to make him famous and gain support to have him arrested. If there's hardly any support, then the government will stop trying to arrest him.

Hmm...well I wasn't really donating money either way...but as far as I can tell, Kony may or may not be dead and I'm assuming that the US government knows that the LRA isn't based in Uganda anymore (plus it was mentioned in the video that they moved). It should still be good that there's an attempt to track Kony and the LRA in case they're active in any other area. Also, if he really IS dead already, wouldn't that technically be a good thing since it could mean less child soldiers created?

I made an account the winter before hp7pII came out to post that I was going to host an 18 hour marathon watching all the hp movies before the 7pII premier! it was awesome and a success but that was the last time I was really on this site. So I'm a college student at a school (coincidentally, very similar to hogwarts) and I'm in a class that looks at how social media plays a role in our daily lives. Our main project is to take a topic and look at different social media sites and see how people utilize them to improve their experience of the certain topic. I, obviously, chose Harry Potter. So, a few things. Can you all tell me about this site. I used to come here all the time. It was super active. It doesn't look like that anymore. What happened? Also, hermoinephoenix, what are some of the tumblr sites you speak of. Tumblr is one of my social media platforms I'm using in this class so I could really use it. And do any of you use other hp sites/social media networks to do hp related things? Hypable is pretty big, and ever since andrew left mugglenet that one has become a bit more run down :( any thoughts on pottermore? Well firebolt really hit the nail on the head with how this site is doing. So 26we don 19t really have any idea what happened. The site has been down off and on mostly a bit before last summer and up till now off and on. I guess with the glitches some people just cant stay with the site. So I know some people went to 1Cmy life is HP. 1D I don 19t go there though, to many grammatical errors 26 &3A I like the leaky cauldron personally. Its great with its arts and craft section. Well, tumblr is blogs, different then websites. Ermm.... Pottermore was the biggest let-down of 2011. I usually check Hypable, but not so much anymore (quite honestly, I rely on tumblr to keep me updated) I don't check this site as much as I used to, but I'm sad that it's spiraling downhill, though, just to make it clear: I LOVE ALL OF YOU. Going through Get Back to Hogwarts, HP in 99 seconds, etc. Bravo, my friends, bravo. Ooh, and yes, LeakyCauldron has great crafts! I am an upper class men in high school. Harry Potter is special to me because of all the time my friends and I bond over it. We all love it. Also it is a great lesson teacher, obscure lessons they may be they teach morals left and right. I love the quotes, the references, and the world that it sits in. I am also a freshman in college. I grew up reading harry potter with my mom so it has been a positive and enriching constant that allowed bonds to grow between me and other people. And JKR just writes with so much humanity and beauty. I just get so excited and happy when I read it or talk about it! And I love that there is an international group of people who can all unite together under a common interest of something that encourages love and understanding and just being the best you can be and ding the right thing. It feels good to know that there are other people all around me who care about the themes and characters and values in the HP series and can have fun with it and also attempt to make the world a happier and better place through it.

This is a very difficult question. I have to agree with HermionePhoenix, CoS was probably my least favorite book. I think my (2) favorite books were Sorcerers Stone and Deathly Hallows. SoS because it is the first. It is where the magic begins. There is a wonderful playfulness, innocence and na�ty throughout which I think really suited the genre and writing style of JKR. And it is just so happy. I look back on the early books and am reminded of my youth, and that is something special for me. As Dumbledore said, "Youth cannot know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young" -OotP .(I'm only a college student but I'm already getting nostalgic about life and freaking out that I'm getting OLD!). And Deathly Hallows! OMG! Well, it's the last book so it ties (almost) everything up. Basically the last 5 chapters make it for me. It is so HUMAN and sad and joyful. These chapters are the pinnacle of JKR's writing and the over-arching plot/theme of the whole series. It just makes me so happy and emotional. I love HP!

for anyone who is a starkid fan, i reccomend fanfiction.net. they have a whole starship section with lots of Tup (Taz/ Up) fanfics as well as a lot of good general starkid ones (the avpm ones aren't that great). i read one called "a very pottermore expierience" where they were all hanging out while waiting for Pottermore beta registration and were completely delirious and insane. the last part i got up to was when they were looking for darren, who got lost, and somebody begins to strangle joey richter. soooooo intense! :) also, i read one where they are all on a road trip called "a very starkid road trip". it's short but hilarious.
